  Back back in the days,in the deepest part of the ocean of Doba that surrounded the island of Sona,there lived a cute little mermaid princess named Bella.The princess lived with her father and mother who were also the King and queen respectively.She was the only child of her parents.So she enjoyed a lot of attention and was loved dearly by her parents.

  Bella was the prettiest mermaid in the kingdom.Her tail was finely decorated with unique shinning scales.Her hair was silky,smooth and very long.It covered all her back and fell beautifully on her shoulders.Her skin was creamy and smooth.And without any scare.She was the envy of other mermaids and other sea creatures.

  The princess had a servant named Hilda.She was also her best friend.So everyday after breakfast,Hilda would help the princess shower.She would then brush her hair and apply perfumed oil on her body and hair.Then with the permission of the king and queen,both Bella and Hilda,would swim around the kingdom.As they swam,they would stop here and there to pass pleasantries.

  However,the King and the Queen never allowed the princess to go out of the kingdom.They said it was dangerous.That there were other creatures on the surface who moved on two sticks.The creatures were very mean.That's why all creatures in the kingdom were banned from going up the surface.

  One day,as Hilda and the princess swam around the princess said to Bella,

  Princess:"Bella,have you ever been to the surface?"

  Bella: "no my princess,why do you ask?"

  Princess:" what do you think if we go there one day.just once to see how the other creatures look like?"

  Bella:"That will not be a good idea my princess,remember the King and Queen have warned us against it and there are guards guarding the entrance and exit of the kingdom"

  The princess kept quiet and continued to swim around.But in her mind was busy plotting on how she could get to the surface.Suddenly an idea struck her.She had once heard the palace cook Jellyfish say that she knew a shortcut to the surface.If she could request Jellyfish's daughter Tuma to inquire from her mother then she could be able to sneak out!

  'That is it! that is it!"the little princess sang to herself.She looked around and saw Hilda busy chatting with some mermaids.So she took the chance, turned around and swam back to the palace as fast as she could,her beautiful tail splashing water all over the way.

  When she finally got to the palace,she tried to swim as gentle as possible so that her parents could not see her go to the servants quarters.Tuma was busy playing in the backyard when pretty Bella arrived. "princess!"Tuma shouted with excitement "Shhhh!"the princess signaled her to keep quiet and follow her to the back of the water tank.

  "Tuma have you ever heard your mother say about the shortcut to the surface?"Princess Bella whispered when they were at the back of the water tank. "?Yes I have heard princess.I even followed her once when she was showing it to the queen!"Tuma replied in a whisper too.

  The princess could not believe her ears.Tuma knew the way to the surface! incredible.She would surely go to the surface that very day.It was still early,if they left now,they will be able to come back before noon.Besides no one would notice they were missing.

  "Tuma, take me to the surface." the princess said to little Tuma.Since Tuma had seen the way to the surface with her mother,she had also been curious to go up.So the princess' order could not have come at a better time.So she simply nodded and signaled the princess to follow her.They both sneaked out of the palace and swam as fast as they could.

  They swam through several layers until they could see very many types of fish.They all marveled at the beauty of the princess and swam behind her.Though they were tired they did not take rest,they had to be back at the palace before noon no matter what.

  Finally they could hear all sorts of noise.The type of noise they had never heard before."we must be nearing the surface"the princess thought to herself.Then they saw so much light and they knew they were there.The princess pushed her head high and pap!it was out of the water.She saw boats and creatures with fully looks.All standing on two sticks.

  "We have made it Tuma! and it is so beautiful"the princess shouted.They both floated on the water enjoying the warmth of the sun.

  Back in the palace,Hilda had swam back alone after realizing that the princess was missing.When the Queen saw her alone she asked her where she had left Bella.She started crying" I don't know where she is your highness,we were swimming and then when I looked around she was not there anymore.I have looked for her everywhere but she is not there.please forgive me your highness.I have failed in my duties"

  The queen could not listen any more,she stormed into the palace and informed the King that their only princess was missing.Within no time all servants were summoned and asked if they knew anything."If anyone of you knows anything speak up now or I will not be responsible for my actions."the King demanded.Mike,the laundry man said that he had heard the princess speak with Tuma about the surface.But he did not hear what they were saying.

  "Gather all the guards and follow me to the surface,we have to find the princess" Said the angry King.They all left for the surface,well armed with weapons.

  Back on the surface,as Tuma and the princess were busy sunbathing,a fisherman saw them and shouted,"there see mermaids!" When the other fishermen looked,they could not believe their eyes.There were two mermaids indeed.They started starring their boats towards them.

  When the princess saw the boats coming towards them,she got to scared.They tried to escape but within no time they were surrounded by two legged creatures all pointing at them.She closed her eyes and regretted not listening to her parents.

  Then they heard a voice,"Stay away from my daughter or we will be forced to shoot." That is my father's voice"The princess felt her heart skip with relieve."i am safe!I am safe!" was all she could say to herself.
